If you’re a photo enthusiast ready to make the leap to creating your own gallery-quality prints at home, Epson’s new range of EcoTank photo printers offers an economical printing solution, as well as the convenience and high degree of control made possible by printing at home.

Like Epson’s other EcoTank models, the basic principle behind the latest releases is that you pay more for the product upfront, then much less for the ink to keep it running. There are no cartridges to replace; the all-in-one photo printers are designed so that you simply top up the integrated high-capacity tanks and keep on printing.

Epson’s latest EcoTank models come with enough ink to print up to 14,000 monochrome pages or 9000 colour pages — that’s the equivalent of around 30 cartridge sets. And, with ink bottles priced from just $26.99, both monochrome and colour per-page costs come in at less than half a cent each.

What really sets these EcoTank models apart is their fantastic photo-printing capabilities. Using Epson’s five-colour, drop-on-demand MicroPiezo inkjet technology, dispersed in droplets as small as 1.5 picolitres, the printers are capable of printing detailed and accurate imagery up to 5760x1440dpi for lab-quality photos. Add in borderless printing, high colour fastness, and dedicated photo-paper trays and they’re a great solution for home photo printing.

There’s DVD/CD printing capability, and the built-in Wi-Fi allows direct printing from your smartphone or tablet. For images from your camera, the USB and memory card slots allow easy PC-free access, and the 2.7-inch LCD allows previewing and editing on screen.
