Last week’s wild weather has forced Auckland Festival of Photography organizers to remove the light boxes displaying Yoki Ishii’s series Deer Planet from Freyberg Square in Auckland city centre.

The series, which is being exhibited as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography, was due to run 29 May–18 June. While it has proven impractical to relocate the light-box show, those wishing to view the exhibition can still do so via a screenshow located on Freyberg Place, according to Auckland Festival of Photography director, Julia Durkin.

“After consulting with our partners at the Ellen Melville Centre (Auckland Council) and given the amount of resources required to relocate the outdoor light box show, we have agreed to present a few print images there and a full screenshow of all the Deer Planet work by Yoko Ishii. The screening will be available 24/7 in the window at the community centre at Freyberg Place until 18 June.”

Deer Planet featured as one of D-Photo’s festival picks, and we still highly recommend visiting the exhibition.
