How do you like the sound of a mirrorless camera capable of shooting high-precision 4K 60p/50p video, as well as using new technology, called ‘6K Photo’, to extract the best frames from bursts shot at 30fps? Panasonic’s new Lumix GH5 allows users to do all those things, while also offering an array of exciting features destined to make your shooting experience hugely creative. It features a new 20.3-megapixel digital live MOS sensor, which combines with a new Venus engine to provide great picture quality, with great resolution, colour reproduction, and noise reduction, even when shooting at the maximum ISO of 25,600. Its ability to shoot 4K 60p/50p and 4:2:2 10-bit video (great for colour reproduction) allows the GH5 to match professional-quality recording, all from your camera.
Video is captured at ultra high definition (Ultra HD) and this results in a smooth recording. And you can shoot carefree, because you don’t need to worry about missing those once-in-a-lifetime moments thanks to the new autofocus system, which makes use of depth-from-defocus (DFD) technology. The sensor drive speed during autofocusing has also improved and is now able to achieve 480fps — twice as fast as the camera’s predecessor, the GH4. And the 6K Photo inclusion shoots bursts of images then extracts the frame with the best timing to make sure you’re getting the highest-quality representation of your one-time-only image.
The GH5 features a very mobile and rugged design, with a magnesium alloy full die-cast front and rear frame, as well as a secure construction and seals to make the camera splashproof, dustproof, and freezeproof (down to –10°C).
