Try a triple challenge

4 July 2014

WisePrisonSubmissions are now open for one of the country’s most targeted photography salons – a national competition dedicated entirely to triptych images.
The Nelson Camera Club is once again calling for submissions to the National Triptych Salon, which is now in its third year.

For those who have not previously dabbled in the three-fold art, a triptych is generally considered to comprise three art works intended to be displayed together, though for the purpose of the competition it is defined as “a presentation made up of three (and only three) distinctly separated photographic images displayed on a common background”.

The images making up a triptych need not be the same shape, but their edges must not meet or overlap, and the background they are presented on must not act as a fourth image.

The salon has two sections – Open Triptych Print and Open Triptych Digitally Projected Images – and each entrant can submit up to four triptychs in each of the categories – see the competition website for further entry details and advice on putting a triptych together.

Submissions to the competition are open until August 31, results of the event will be announced on September 12, and awards will be presented and a winners exhibition launched on October 5 at Morrison Street Cafe in Nelson.
