All-round outdoor star

The Sigma 60–600mm — star of Gearducated issue 88 — is described by its manufacturer as an ‘absolute all-rounder’, and it appears to live up to this title for those seeking a lens for outdoor pursuits. Its focal range covers what would normally be covered by two lenses, its magnesium-based build is strong, and features weather seals and water- and oil-repellent coating. Tracking and panning is made easy, even with hand-held shooting, thanks to its optical stabilization and image stabilization of up to four stops. Along with its surprisingly close focus, this makes the lens ideal for wildlife and sports shooting. Available for Sigma, Nikon, and Canon camera systems, and Sony E mount when using the MC-11 mount converter. Priced at $3195.
